It’s getting to the point where you need your own geek squad to have a small business.
In response to the many of you who said <repeatedly>, “You should be on Facebook”, well… we are now on Facebook! Thanks go to two people. First is Debbie, who was bound and determined to make this happen. Second [...]

As in first, not necessarily biggest. Although that may be true, as well. I live for this kind of feedback:
[Your new Hojicha Yasashii is]…meaty, roasty, bready, and full-bodied, but still manages to be crisp. Like a satisfying hot breakfast on the porch in October, in a cup! Love it!!
Cheers,

Looks like I need to [...]

Many years ago, I spent a lot of time traveling in Japan on business. During that time, I came to fall in love with all things Japanese – especially the food and beverages. Probably not surprisingly, one of my favorites is a beverage called Hojicha, which is fired, or roasted, bancha (green tea).
When we decided [...]
Happy Birthday to Us

We’re one year old today!
Till I started my own, I never realized how hard it is to pinpoint the birthday of a business. The idea was debated for months, if not years leading up to the end of 2006. We bought a building and incorporated in December 2006. The roaster was built and we settled [...]

<Read this post in your best Anthony Bourdain voice and I promise you it will sound better>
Tonight I made my first fired tea. In several batches. It was harder than I thought it would be, and it didn’t come out exactly right each time. In fact, it came out exactly right only once, [...]

Tom says the Double-T CSA drop WILL HAPPEN this week.

This is supposed to be the slow time of the year. Sharpen the saw, and all that. Yet, somehow, I’ve had no time for me or anybody else. And it’s reflected in my slow blog postings. So I figured I’d tell you what’s keeping me so busy (and more importantly, how it might benefit you).
One [...]

The beans arrived today. The product is available again at our website. Cea also sold me some peaberry, which is like perfection squared. Both products are in relatively limited quantities, so if you want some, get it now. Note that we do sell this one in half pounds, in fact it is now the ONLY [...]

Cea and Bob have just shipped another order of the current crop of their exquisite, luscious, delicious Kona coffee. Including some peaberry! If I sound grateful they choose to sell to me, that’s because I am grateful. These terrific farmers (and terrific people) make their living by growing, processing, roasting and selling their Estate coffee [...]
Topless Coffee?

I usually try to avoid the sensational. Things like “Nescafe Turned My Child Into a Wolfboy!”, or “Starbucks Bankrupted My Family” (OK, that could happen). But this one is just too bizarre not to mention; from the We Report, You Decide people:
