When it rains, it pours. After getting the news that we had a 91-point coffee review over at coffeereview.com, I received a note from the nice folks over at Coffee & Conservation. They have added us to their list of responsible roasters! We are honored to be among the roasters chosen for this recognition. The criteria is pretty stringent (read it HERE), and I like that “an obvious dedication to offering quality coffee” is part of the selection process. While we are passionate about causes, we believe that we need to start with quality as the top criterion.
Anyway, you can see the interactive list of roasters selected for this honor HERE. Note that we are one of only three selected in the state of North Carolina – the other two have been at it for over a dozen years, so we are in good company, indeed. Add to that the fact that North Carolina is EXCEPTIONALLY well served with specialty roasters (at least two dozen by my count), and you’ll realize that this type of distinction in not trivial.
As long as I’m feeling all mushy, I want to plug my good friend Dan Joliff at US Roaster Corp. again. Dan built our super eco-friendly Revelation roaster, and he is doing the missionary work to sell a few more. These machines cost a pretty penny, it’s true, but they return the investment with lower operating costs and they are better for the planet, too. If you are a roaster considering a new machine, call Dan.
