We’re talking rock star coffee, folks.
Our friend Cea at Smithfarms, who in addition to growing the world’s best coffee makes a mean tuna salad sandwich, contacted me the other day to let me know they had some parchment go to the mill. Low and behold, they had a nice yield of peaberry from it. So I bought every bean Cea would sell me, which wasn’t much. The coffee just arrived, and as usual, it is magnificent. The green looks like little precious gems, with a beautiful aroma like fresh alfalfa. The cup is Barry White smooth, and if you taste carefully, you get an essence of island breeze. Our other special coffee is one that we have thanks to Mike Perry at Klatch Roasting. Mike and I were roomies on a recent trip to Ethiopia, where we became good friends. Mike graciously offered me a little of the 2009 auction lot he won, which was a generous gesture, indeed. I bought this coffee a few years ago before the entire world went crazy foir it, and thought I’d never be able to buy it again. We are PRE-SELLING now, the coffee just arrived at Klatch and it will take me at least a few weeks to get it here. But do not wait to buy, beacuse it will be gone.
