Today was a fun day. I cup coffees often, but it’s not so frequently that I get to do so with customers, which is something I enjoy. A few months ago, the Western Wake Farmer’s Market held a silent auction fundraiser. We donated a private cupping session to the event, and the winner redeemed their session this morning.
We kept the session a little less rigorous than a formal, fully protocol-driven cupping, but still with enough structure to teach people some basics. They learned to slurp and spit properly, in any event!
At the end of the session, all the cuppers were surprised to learn that I had tricked them – they had cupped the same coffee, roasted with 8 different profiles! Just goes to show that roasters DO bring something to the craft.
If you think you might be interested in a private session, give us a shout. It’s not too expensive, and it makes a great gift.
